At my boyfriend's parents' house for Mother's Day, all they had to drink for soda was Dt. 7-up. I haven't had it in years since we have always just bought Coke or Pepsi products. I have to say I really enjoyed the taste of the Dt. 7-up and I will probably buy it next time it's on sale! It had a sweet and crisp flavor that didn't leave an aftertaste in my mouth.

i signed up for one, and while i already know sierra mist is my fav, i have been buying the "new" siet 7-up since it has been on sale, 3 for 3.50 plus .55 off each 2-liter with coupons. haha. usually i drink tea or water, but every once in a while I get on this i want soda kick, and since I am dieting and can't have caffeine, clear sodas are for me!

Yeah Yum! It turns out you didn't just have a taste test, but a little psychology experiment on the side!

that's very interesting. on occasion, i enjoy the crisp coolness of a Sprite more than I enjoy sparkling water. sometimes sparkling water (even the flavored kind) tastes too bitter.

I am not a pop/soda person but OCASSSIONALLY I will have a craving= and without hesitation will reach for a diet. I do taste a difference between that and regular but I guess I drink it so rarely that I don't mind. And when mixing drinks with pop- at home or at the bar, I opt for diet as well, I just feel guilty about the added unnecessary calories. Personally I am bummed when diet pops DON'T have caffeine in them- that is just a bonus if you ask me :) I ordered the kit when the original post was made so I am excited to get it!

I gotta laugh at that person who said they'd never drink this as well!

oookay. here comes some debunking. just the other night i was reading "blink", malcolm gladwell's follow-up to "the tipping point" and he talks about the pepsi challenge and how on the sip test pepsi was ANNIHILATING coke. so pepsi developed it as a marketing campaign. coke freaked out and in response developed "new coke", which in tests beat pepsi by a comfortable margin. of course it was a complete disaster because we don't drink a "sip" of cola/sprite/beer/tequila, we drink a WHOLE can/bottle/flask handed to us by some guy in cabo. and the taste that was making pepsi win (sweeter and something else i don't remember, the book is in the other room and i'm watching the rockets game) was actually off-putting by the time you got to the end of the can. now that we all know the non-relevence of sip-tests, lets talk about how AWESOME those flip video banners are, i wonder what artistic genius did them??

I don't drink any of those, but I still found this to be interesting! I'm still laughing over the person who said they'd never drink whatever is in 'D' but really drinks it all the time! haha

Amity - I'm pretty sure they were the same, the packaging was the same and the both have the new "lemonlime" "naturally flavored soda" on them. They're both the new 7up, i thought the one we had was different, but it wasn't, they were almost identical. I personally think it was the power of suggestion, people thought it was different so it "had to be," right?

The diet 7ups might have tasted different because they changed the formula kind of recently. It was made with Splenda for a while, and now it isn't. Also regular 7up switched to all natural so they might have changed the base formula for diet also. (I work along with a 7up distributer sometimes.)

I love sparkling water but sometimes I just feel like something sweeter but don't want the caffeine or sugar. And another thing I like about Diet 7Up, Sprite Zero, etc. is that they don't stain my teeth as much as Diet Coke and coffee (not that I don't drink a lot of those too).

I can provide some insight into the why drink a drink with no caffeine, and no sugar. I have heart problems and am sugar sensitive and I DO drink A ridiculous amount of water, but anytime a new flavor/drink comes out that matches my needs I'm willing to give it a try! I'd imagine there are plenty a diabetic, or dieter out there that also have heart issues and would be willing to try this. Growing up a caffeine free coke addict, then becoming sugar sensitive a couple years ago was a true heartbreaker. Water is good, and good for you, but in my opinion it's nearly as satisfying as pop sometimes, no matter how you sparkle or flavor it! I'm still laughing over the "I would never drink this" taster! Thanks for the test!
