What Do You Do With Leftovers?

Yesterday DearSugar told me she recently had a party. She bought a bunch of food and invited friends over to watch the Colts game. Her appetizers were so amazing that no one wanted to eat her main course and she was left wondering what to do with a large quantity of chicken kabobs. It got me thinking about leftovers and how I generally use them. What do you do with leftovers?

Eat them as is, but sometimes I try to make sandwiches out of them.

Do all of the above - I, too, hate throwing away food. If I don't make a whole new meal then once a week we have leftover night, which I call Fridge Dinner where we eat all the leftover no matter if it's Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Indian, whatever culture it all get's put on the table and eaten. Dogger loves that night!

i always intend on eating them either for lunch or dinner in the following days . unfortunately im not home very often and spend a lot of time at my boyfriends so after a day or two i usually call my roomate and tell him to inish whatever is i a tuperware. which he gladly does since he never ever cooks. haha its a decent system. and at least now i dont throw food out, which i used to do when i lived alone.

If it's leftover meat I usually toss it into a salad for lunch the next day. If it's other stuff I just eat it how it is. Leftovers are awesome. Some food is better after sitting for a day, like chili. Sometimes we'll even make something and wait a day to eat it so the flavors have time to mix. Not exactly leftovers, but still food that's been prepared, refrigerated & reheated.

I reheat them in the microwave and eat them the way they are. I love leftovers, actually.

Unfortunately most of the things we eat can't easily be reincarnated, so I eat lots of the same thing over and over. My husband isn't much help, but since I won't waste food I wind up eating the leftovers for days or freezing them.

If it's a LOT leftover, I'll freeze it in meal-size portions. If it's just a bit, I'll take them for lunch and leave enough for my fiance to pick at, since he works from home.

I HATE to throw away food, but we do save leftovers for a couple days. It is rare they get eaten completely though. If its something like spaghetti or my husband chicken and rice it gets eaten and the leftovers get eaten too. Luckily my husband takes his dinner to work every evening and will take the same thing 2 nights in a row if its sitting in the fridge waiting to go bad. he is good that way!!

Well last night I made a sandwich with leftover ham. Normally I eat them as is and share them with my co-workers who actually commented that they had missed them lately.

I always turn leftovers into a new meal. I hate throwing food out if I don't have to but I also dislike eating the same thing two days in a row. It works well for me.

I like to create new meals. It's actually fun! The other day I had leftover fish so I made Italian fish cakes with a delicious fresh tomato salsa.

I rely on leftovers to make new meals! I almost always cook more than I need and plan the next night's dinner that way. It saves me time and money.

It's pretty ridiculous. Sometimes I wind up creating a whole new meal that centers around the leftover...yeah, it can get a little out of hand. ;-)

I never throw away food unless it's gone bad or I don't like it. If I make something I always store the extras and eat them later. Sometimes I eat them as is, sometimes I get creative and add them into something completely new and sometimes I do the sandwich or salad thing.. it depends!

i usually eat as is... or i'll just make a different side to eat it with... that and i'll take it for lunch... but i agree with above - there are those times when i'll completely forget about my left overs and end up having to throw them away... all bad

Depends on the leftover - fried rice is my leftovers disposal standby, but if it was a dish that doesn't lend itself to such repackaging, I eat it as is.
