What Food Did You Eat Too Much of as a Kid?

When my dad was little he ate lots and lots of boxed macaroni and cheese. So much that now he can not touch macaroni and cheese in any way, shape, or form. It disgusts him and he refuses to eat it. He has the same sort of strong feelings of revulsion for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. While many people see these foods as comforting blasts from the past, to my father they are far from edible. So, I was wondering, is this a common occurrence?

I've never had mac n cheese from a box, only homemade, and hadn't had a pb & j until last fall. I think it would have been better with fresh pb, not the 2 years past its date stuff that was used.

We ate so much Hamburger Helper. Yuck! My son wanted to try it so I bought a box, and it tasted even worse than I remembered.

doughnuts every Saturday morning...I think I had them so much as a child that now, as an adult, I can easily walk away from one

Peanut Butter--straight out of the jar. I could sit down and eat it with a spoon.

I never got to eat any of these til I was in college! I grew up on a farm, and we raised everything we ate. We were organic before organic was cool, lol! Black-eyed peas, however, became something I wouldn't touch for almost 20 years. I'm just now starting to like them again...

Hot dogs and spagetti. That is all I would eat for the first 7 years of my life. I wouldn't even touch a hamburger. Then, I fell in love with celery sticks, cucumbers, and canned spinach. Celery stick obsession lasted because I would put cream cheese or peanut butter or even just salt on them. But the other two....I ended up eating so much I got sick. I'm just starting to wean myself onto cukes.

My mother always cooked wonderful meals and we never really had any of things listed above. It was a "special occasion" for my sis and I if we did get them. So now, even as much as I love to cook... I love to have some Kraft Mac and Cheese or any of the other things listed to eat! I think I have everything on that list (beside fish stick- I never had them- Ewww)in my fridge and pantry!

Ketchup! I don't care for it now at all. I can stomach it, but I don't ever choose to have it. Apple juice too. I think this happens A LOT.

My mom never let us eat as much Macaroni and Cheese as I would have preferred. We did, however, eat a lot of hotdogs. Don't ask me why those were considered better for us than Mac and Cheese. I still love a good hotdog, however so I guess I was not ruined.

I think that is why my Mom finally gave up on trying to turn me off the PB - at least I was eating *something*!

I did go through a period where all I would eat is cereal. My Mom wasn't thrilled about it at all. She was just grateful I ate something at that point. I was really young and hated most foods.

Either peanut butter & jelly or grilled cheese sandwiches. My Mom was really good about trying to get me to eat a healthy assortment of foods. I never like peanut butter & jelly, though. We never ate Mac & Cheese, Hamburger Helper, or any of the foods mentioned above except, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. I used to eat Ravioli occasionally.

Peanut butter. Sometimes for 3 meals a day! My mother finally convinced my doctor to tell me I was going to turn into a frog if I kept eating so much peanut butter. (It didn't work, alas)!

Chef Boyardee Ravioli ... and really, Chef Boyardee everything. It was one of the first things I was able to "cook" for myself, and I totally OD'd. On the other hand, I do still sometimes get weird cravings for Spaghetti-Os.
