I'm from the South so, of course, it's Fried Chicken. I guess that's why I had to pull out my exercise videos!!

it really is a toss-up between hamburgers and hot dogs! and whoever said grilled cheese and soup also gets my vote too!

Well... considering I don't eat meat, pretty much the only thing I can vote for is apple pie, since I'm not a fan of mac n' cheese. If I had a choice, it'd be PB&J. YUM!!!

I would have to say PIZZA! Not sure if it was originated here or in Italy (or did I hear China or something like that?)

When I ate meat I loved loved loved chicken fried steak and white gravy. I haven't had one in over 11 years, but I can still taste it...(starts to drool)

Ceaser salad originated in Mexico, and I believe that apple pie is from England. But, I do think that these are still "American." I could never eat the other choices and be fine, but I wouldn't want to live in a world without cheeseburgers, fries, cheesecake, and brownies. I rarely allow myself the treat of a cheeseburger and fries, but I do love them!

I can easily make all of those things and so don't miss them. That is except the Mac and Cheese. Something about American Mac & Cheese makes it special. I love it and miss it.

I think the best thing about American food is our fondness for and innovation in "fusion" food. We take a bit from everywhere and make it our own. California cuisine - with Asian and homegrown focus, Tex-Mex, Cajun Creole, etc. We blend! Because you could never pick just one. . .

amandaaa: TeamSugar and I were having a debate about the origin of Cesaer salad when YumSugar was writing this! I said it was totally all-American and made in a hotel in LA but Team swore it was first made in Tijuana.

I am really not into eating much of these foods but my one splurge is a burger for sure. I only allow myself to eat on if I have been really good leading up to that point. I love friuts and veggies, cottage cheese, all those yummy healthy snacks.
