What's Your Favorite Kind of Dried Fruit?

What's Your Favorite Kind of Dried Fruit?

On my way up to Manzanita in Lake Tahoe, I couldn't resist making a stop into roadside store Ikedas, a specialty gourmet market that sells every kind of pie imaginable. I was shocked by its assortment of dried fruit, too, as it included some varieties, like dried kiwis, that I'd never encountered before. The ridiculous assortment made me think to ask: What's your favorite kind of dried fruit?

I'm not a big fan of dried fruit, I like FREEZE dried more :) I picked mango though, I used to love the kind TJ had, but they have since changed them (not sure if it's ripeness, supplier, or what).

I agree with blueberries. I treat myself every once in a while to the dried blueberries covered in, get this, dark chocolate that I can buy at my co-op. Pure bliss.

My bother used to make dried bananas using one of those dehydrating machines. Reminds me of my childhood. For all dried fruit fans, try dried persimmons. They look like this: http://www.maangchi.com/wp-content/uploads/ingredients/driedpersimmons2-773452.jpg In my opinion, they are the king of dried fruits! You can buy them at many Asian stores. You can eat them as they are, or soak them in sweetened tea or honey.

Believe it or not, prunes. My mom makes this stew with dried apricots and prunes - and I always ate them before she put them in the stew and loved them long before I learned they were the old people fruit.
