I recently had French macaroons in Montreal. They come in lots of different flavors. I had one that was caramel apple flavor, and my other favorite was passionfruit flavored. The colors were outrageous as well. Love them!

I love french macaroons, especially those that are flavored chocolate and pistachio. I like regular coconut macaroons too, but if I had to choose, I'd go for the French ones.

Oh my god - My first ever true french macaron (only one "o" for the french cookies) was a couple weeks ago when I was at a play opening in Santa Monica, the caterer put out chocolate macarons from Boule (420 La Cienega, in L.A.) and I, I am not even a big sweeet-toothy type, but this was like - just - unbelieveable. They are amazing. Amazing. I want to find the French patisseries around here in Bev Hills/West Hollywood etc. and try all the different flavours they come in, but oh my god those chocolate macarons were unreal...

If you need a french macaron primer and recipe, there's a really good series on Serious Eats (www.seriouseats.com) this week. They're not that hard to make, and they are very delicious!

I've never had or heard of French, but since I don't like coconut at all, I voted French. They look scrumptious. :)

I've had a coconut flavoured french macaroons before. They sell them in Laduree in Harrods and Paris. I'm not sure if you get Laduree in America at all.

I love both, but as far as baking is concerned, coconut are much much easier to make.
