Are You Willing to Brave Long Lines For Free Food?

A few weeks ago, there was a hot dog promotion at a street cart near my office, Zog's Dogs. To celebrate its one-year anniversary, the eatery was handing out coupons for gratis hot dogs. As a hot dog lover myself, I couldn't resist getting in on the deal — but when I got to the line and saw how long it was, I had to turn away. Despite the fact that we're in a recession and I'm always happy to save a little cash, I deemed a 30-minute wait for a $4 hot dog simply excessive and went somewhere else. I'm curious to know: Would you have done the same?

It depends on the food and if there would be anything left when I got there!

Uuuh, I'll wait for ANYTHING that's free. Its the dead-set policy of being a grad student. If I don't have a friend with me, I'd use the time to call up people I haven't talked to in a while, review some flash cards, read a book, or check the popsugar network on my iphone. Seriously... its free!

Well, I've waited in half hour+ lines to pay for food, so yeah, I would wait that long for free food!

I said yes, because I have in the past. Waiting on line on free scoop day from Ben and Jerry's with my friends in college....ah, those were the good old days! But now, no. Not worth my time.

The owners of the group of buildings where my previous job was located did an ice cream social through Cold Stone Creamery every year. It was awesome. The line would get long, but that was part of the fun....meeting and talking to all the other people that work in your building.
