Our Favorite Yogurts in the Land

A trip down the yogurt aisle can be overwhelming with the abundance of brands, flavors, and styles available, many of which are so-so at best. Over the years, we've tried dozens of varieties to see what's worth our (limited) fridge space. These seven varieties we frequently stock and consider the most delicious ways to load up on probiotics. Photo: Anna Monette Roberts

Clover Organic Farms Cream on Top Vanilla Yogurt

Clover Organic Farms Cream on Top Vanilla Yogurt

Every time I dig into a cup of Clover Organic Farms Cream on Top Vanilla Yogurt it feels like a real treat. It may seem ridiculously decadent for a breakfast staple — each cup is topped off with a lush layer of vanilla cream — but the real secret is that while rich in texture, it has the same amount of milk fat as other whole-milk yogurts.

Straus Organic Plain Greek Yogurt

Straus Organic Plain Greek Yogurt

Straus Organic Plain Yogurt tastes just like the authentic, full-fat Greek yogurt I tried when visiting the country itself. The ultimate blend of tart and creamy, it's my go-to yogurt that I eat almost every day, sometimes topped with berries and brown rice puffs and other times with a bit of lemon curd stirred in.

Wallaby Organic Maple Yogurt

Wallaby Organic Maple Yogurt

It's hard to pick a favorite from Wallaby's line of fun flavors (think key lime, bartlett pear, and orange passion fruit), but when hard-pressed I'd have to side with Wallaby Organic Maple Yogurt. It's by far the best maple yogurt I've tried thanks to its clean, true-to-life flavor and silky-smooth texture.

Chobani Passion Fruit

Chobani Passion Fruit

We've tried every single Chobani yogurt flavor, but passion fruit is the top pick. The seeds are kept in, so it's as if you just scooped a fresh, tropical passion fruit on top of the yogurt. The only downside to this yogurt is its limited availability. Snatch it if you see it.

Siggi's Orange & Ginger

Siggi's Orange & Ginger

OK, skyr isn't technically yogurt (it's an Icelandic fresh cheese) but its thick, satisfying texture and tang are so similar to Greek yogurt that I think of it as such. While Greek yogurt (particularly low-fat varieties) can often be unpleasantly chalky, skyr feels rich on the tongue. Lightly sweetened and zingy from bits of orange zest and ginger, Siggi's Orange & Ginger is absolutely worth stocking in your fridge.

Noosa Honey Yoghurt

Noosa Honey Yoghurt

The ice cream of yogurts has to be Noosa Honey Yoghurt, because the company actually adds cream to its full-fat yogurt. Sweetened with a touch of clover honey, this tiny container of yogurt will go faster than your spoons are prepared for.

Nancy's Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt

Nancy's Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt

When it comes to plain yogurt, a lot can go wrong as there are no sweeteners or fruit to round out the lactic tang. Nancy's Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt is a great companion to chopped-up fruit and granola but is balanced enough to eat on its own.
