She's not the greatest mom for sure but it's harsh to complain about her smoking in front of her kids. Millions of people smoke in front of their kids. It's also harsh to say parents who smoke around their kids should be shot. Do you know that there are a lot of good parents out there? Why shoot them for just smoking? It's not like they are handing the cigs to the kids or offering out drugs like candy. I'd rather a smoking parent as opposed to truly bad parents.

smoking around your kids IS being a bad parent...true, she's not beating her kids but she's instead subjecting them to the nastiest toxins in the earth and essentially subjecting them to an early death. that might seem kinda harsh but it really is true.

Didn't mean it litterally, but I feel strongly against smoking in general, but to do it practically in front of your child is just plain horrible. Doing that, is defining a "truly bad parent" to me.

Millions of people also feed their children junk food and sit by and watch as their children become morbidly obese. It doesn't make it right. Indoors or outdoors it doesn't matter, you shouldn't smoke around your kids, doesn't matter how many people think it's fine, it's not.

Smoking with your children is awful, but I do agree there's a lot worse things you can do, that she is doing! I'm a lot more worried about these kids emotional well being, you know how much she's going to mess them up by being so crazy, never being around, and only having them to "have something to love." Poor kids.

it can be bad or not but in the end everyone does what they think is right or good for them and their family, and if she thinks is fine, what can we do?, and judging for the attitude that she has shown lately she won't change anything about her lifestyle.

i completely agree that smoking around children is a bad idea and completely unhealthy, however, 1. she is outside, so the smoke is probably being blown away immediately and 2. it's not like the kid is in her arms or something, he is a fairly decent distance away, so it's hightly unlikely that the smoke is even getting to him. i just don't think it's such a horrendous situation, there's a lot worse that can be happening.

just because she smokes doesn't make her a bad parent BUT good parents make it a point to not smoke around them.
and smoking stays on your hands and clothes so if she's not washing her hand and then feeding them then they're also ingesting some of the toxins
and the studies show that kids with smoking parents are more likely to smoke

but it's good she's out side playing with them rather than a nanny or out drinking like she usually is and it's good she's got panties on.

I am sorry but smoking around her kids is just the LATEST thing she's done to prove she is a TERRIBLE mother. She has done too many things the name in this post and she continues to ruin her own life. When you become a parent you decide to be a better person for your children. She obviously has no plans in doing that.

I agree with beachkate. She could be doing a LOT worse things than smoking OUTSIDE a good distance from her kids. I think a lot of people here are overreacting.

It's not good to smoke around children but she could be beating them or whatever else which is a lot worse. At least she's trying to be a good parent by doing it outside and not right beside JJ or Sean in the sandbox. Quitting smoking is extremely hard and with her limelight and stress I can't imagine being her and trying to quit. But non smokers will never understand that

Dang, the way some of you complain about parents who smoke, you'd think the parents were beating the kids. Honestly though, there's always something a parent will do that's bad in someone else's eyes. All through history, parents are "bad" somehow. Britney is in no way a shining star as a parent but her smoking shouldn't be the bigger issue. Look, she's with her kids, having fun. How often do we see that in the tabs?

You guys are making way too big of a deal. Smoking in front of her children does not make her a bad parent.
During the baby boomer era it was considered sexy to smoke and all women smoked back then and their babies turned out fine.
My parents smoked around me my whole life and I'm fine.

There are worse things that could be done. The air is already so polluted so smoking or not, your child is still getting intoxicated. Even if you don't smoke, chances are that your child will be exposed to smoke when going to the park, or other places. People smoke everywhere and won't stop just because a child is there. THAT'S LIFE, DEAL WITH IT. There's a french woman they showed on TV who lived until 123 (literally!) and smoked heavily her whole life and drank a glass of wine every day. If you're going to get lung cancer, you're just going to get it and you can't stop it. You know--studies show that most people who have had lung cancer were NOT smokers.

There's nothing wrong with smoking around your kid. I don't recommend it, but it's not like you're commiting a crime. As I said before, just living in a big city like LA you are automatically exposed to smoke. Smoke from cars, big factories, plenty of smokers, and the list goes on and on.

I think it's pretty bad to be around a baby and smoke RIGHT next to it and basically blow the smoke in its face, but that's not the case here and i'm sure nobody does that. But if you're just smoking and your child is nearby, then whatever! You people need to get lives and stop being so judgemental. You don't know Britney Spears and obviously you don't know what you're talking about because i'm 100% sure most of you know people who smoke around their kids and don't care. There are better things out there to worry about.

Also, they are babies and this is in HER BACKYARD. They could be naked for all I care and there's nothing wrong with that. They're not out in public.
