Assisted Living: Help Me Find Fabric For Dining Chairs

CasaSugar Community member Lauren posted in the Assisted Living group looking for help finding fabric for her dining chairs:

My husband and I have started on a pretty large refinishing project! It is an old dining room table with six chairs that belonged to a friend of the family's grandmother! It is a beautiful set but it definitely needs a lot of work! So we are in the process of removing both the stain and varnish on all of the chairs and the table. I want to stain the table with a really dark almost black stain to update the old style. Along with staining, I need to recover the seats. I wanted something bright and most likely green but I am open to other colors. Does anyone know of a good place to look online for fabrics? Here are a couple of the fabrics I was thinking about!

Hi Lauren,

Looks like you found Calico Corners — that's definitely a great fabric shop!

Here are some others I like:

Do any of you have any favorite online fabric shops you can recommend to Lauren? Or do you know of any bright green fabrics she may like? Please comment below!

I have ordered fabric from this random online store- http://newtoto.stores.yahoo.net/ - they do free samples with free shipping and have amazing prices! I have gotten tons of samples from them and bought bits and pieces here and there. I am actually sending 9 of my 12 dining room chair seats out to an upholsterer tomorrow w/ a fabric from them. It takes some poking around, but their prices are insanely low! here's a fabric that might work for you from them. http://newtoto.stores.yahoo.net/pskbuwaandst.html

I've had good experiences with fabric from ebay. Granted that was about 4-5 years ago but I never had a problem. Good luck and let us know what you decide, if you haven't already!

For really high end fabric, I say go to www.staceage.com. I've been to their storeroom in Atlanta and the fabrics are TO DIE FOR. J Caroline Creative is having a huge sale. She has a lot of pretty canvas and upholstery weight fabrics. http://www.jcarolinecreative.com/ I also like www.fabricworm.com

I like the Sandro Pear and the Silhouette patterns, they wouldn't take all the focus away from the nice details of the chair.
