Before and After: A Dining Room Table Makeover

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member h2urHome from the Su Casa group:

We decided to host Thanksgiving this year, which is great, but also not so great because we just moved into our new home and did not have a dining room table. I needed a new table and, of course, spending thousands of dollars was not in the budget, especially since Christmas is right around the corner. After a lot of searching, I found the perfect table, four chairs, and sideboard for less then $250. It had pretty lines, and it is well-built but was ugly. The before photo doesn't really show how ugly it truly was. Part of it was painted white with gold flecks all over. The rest was stained, but I couldn't even tell you what color it was.

To make the pieces over, I spray-painted the sideboard and table black with my power painter. This is how I achieved a smooth finish. I painted the chairs two shades lighter than the wall paint. I covered the chairs myself with a black and white dotted Waverly fabric. I plan on having them redone by a professional after the holiday, but for now, it will do. I also purchased a bench from HomeGoods and painted and reupholstered it to match the chairs. If you'd like to read more about my house and projects, please stop by my blog. Thanks!

WOW - I love it. I have the EXACT same table, stained on top, white on the bottom but no gold flecks. Since moving into a new house, I've been wanting to do a make over but wasn't sure if I should do black or white. I also have light grey walls & I love the black with it. My table is in great shape & I love the 2 leaves, perfect for holiday get togethers. Thank you for the idea :)
