Before and After: A Goodwill Find Used as Television Console

Before and After: A Goodwill Find Used as Television Console

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member h2urHome from the Su Casa group:

We recently finished up a basement remodel and of course my husband bought a huge television to put in the family room. I needed a large console to hold all his electronic gadgets but of course I didn't want to spend a fortune. I found this dresser at my local Goodwill. I know it looks dated but the piece was solid, (weighs a ton) and it has a ton of storage for cds, dvds, gaming equipment, and surround sound. So after sanding, painting, and replacing the dated knobs . . . here is the after pic!

My advice for Goodwill finds: don't look at the color, look at the lines. This piece had great lines and I'm really happy with the results! If you want to know more about this piece please stop by my blog. Thanks so much!!

I love this! It's a good thing you saw the potential... I probably would have passed right by it if I saw it at Goodwill.

I used Pittsburgh paint from Home Depot, its a premium paint that is primer and paint in one. The dresser was sanded down to get some of the sheen off and I sprayed the piece. I took off the old hardware and replaced it with brass hardware. It took about a week to complete. I hope this helps.

Bravo! That looks fantastic. I always see pieces like this and think they are lost causes, I am obviously wrong!
