One of my favorite pieces of furniture at the Sunset Magazine Smart Homes was this joyful little side table that was placed in the living room of one of the homes.
Created by Northern California-based interior designer Curtis Popp, whose work has been featured in publications including Interior Design, Dwell, and Interni & Decor magazines, his designs share a sense of whimsy, which is definitely reflected in the first offering from his company CPopp Workshop — the Soft Side Table from the Soft Collection.
"The initial inspiration behind the table’s vernacular was the simplicity of a bundle of sticks, from there I experimented with penetration and the termination of one material into another," explains Popp. "I began with the smallest piece in the collection, because a side table is such an impromptu piece, it can serve as an ottoman, a stool, or simply as a table."
Made from wood and metal, the round wooden top sits on powder-coated metal or wood legs, and can be ordered in many different colors and configurations. I especially love how the round tabletops feature the exposed legs, which look like cheerful buttons on the walnut or white oak surfaces. Tables start at $470 and can be fully customized by request.
