Casa Craving Challenge: Awesome Alarm Clocks

At my house, I've banned the digital alarm clock from the bedroom. I hate having something else that needs to be plugged in next to my head, and I hate those glowing digits even more. I've been on the hunt for a good alarm clock for a while now, but I haven't found anything yet that really inspires me to shell out some cash.

That's why for this week's Casa Craving Challenge, I'm asking you to hunt down and bookmark the best-looking, coolest, most retro, or most contemporary alarm clocks you can find. They can be refined or goofy, big and clunky or small and slender, as long as they catch your eye. Show me all of your fab finds by creating Casa Cravings and tagging them with the phrase cool alarm clocks. I'll feature the results next Wednesday, Feb. 27. Please let me know if you have any questions.

You might want to check out Think geek.com and Sharper image online. Two places I like to visit often!!

I really adore my iHome, gotta admit. It's just too nice to be able to choose precisely what I wake up to. BUT...one of my best friends just returned from Hong Kong and brought me an adorable retro red alarm clock as a souvenir, complete with bells on top and...a tableau featuring Chairman Mao with a waving arm on its face. I'm not one for the ticking myself, but I cannot WAIT to feature this on a guest room bedside table and wait for the reaction of my guests.

That bedroom is gorgeous. It has some feminine flair but doesn't look too "girly." I especially love the flower (fabric panels?) above the bed!

I think the clock that makes oatmeal that was on yumsugar the other day definitely takes the cake!

bluecanary--not sure about your hubby and his ticking issues, sometimes I notice it more than other times if that makes sense. But it's never kept me awake so I don't think it would bother him unless he just likes TOTAL silence. And I definitely think it would wake you, the light blinks for five minutes and if that doesn't wake you then it has a bell alarm that will definitely wake you. But the light always wakes me up unless I'm just completly out of it. And I think LL Bean is pretty good about returns but I think you'd be pleased with it! The light is so much nicer than a beeping/buzzing!

shellbelle - I'd wondered about those clocks, I really like the idea of waking up gradually. I wonder if they would take it back if you just didn't like it (husband and his ticking issues) or if it didn't wake you up?

I LOVE my LL Bean Moonbeam Alarm Clock....http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&categoryId=33149&sc1=Search&feat=srInstead of that horrible buzzing (which I believe is the soundtrack of Hell) it starts with a soft light blinking and then if you don't hit snooze or turn it off it will eventually buzz but I'm a pretty light sleeper so the light always wakes me. It does have a tick that might be annoying to some but not enough to bother me at all.

Ooooh, how relevant! I have been in alarm clock shopping mode for a few weeks now. I'm especially interested if anyone has found a nicely designed one with a radio, becuase that alarm clock beeping really doesn't work for me.

I love clocks! If it wouldn't drive my husband crazy I'd have a regular clock bedside too (he can't deal with the ticking!). Will go "shopping" for you! :)
