Casa Link: Gracefully Integrating Ikea

Everyone has a few Ikea products in their home. It's inevitable — the Swedish giant has a great variety of practical and economical choices for home furnishing. Best of all, if done right, Ikea products can look great next to a variety of interior-decorating styles, from romantic antiques to midcentury modern furniture. It's all a matter of styling and arranging. For inspiration, check out SFgirlbybay's post on Ikea finds in well-decorated homes.

I completely agree...they can look great mixed with other, more expensive pieces.

their pieces are well-designed and inexpensive. one of the many things i love about them is the variety - you can buy stuff from there for pretty much every taste and budget. their hard goods (shelves etc) are especially great quality. Oh - and isn't the fact that they score "excellent" for environmental practices a huge bonus?! I used to work there and it was the best job i ever had. we used to have some of those table tops with the screw-in legs for desks and our place (with the addition of billy bookcases) did look like page... of the catalogue. we had just moved out together and needed lots of things so it was nice to find so many inexpensive pieces. we have just about everything we originally bought from IKEA 7 years ago apart from those desks that we gave to our neighbour last year.

Looks like the catalog. I do have some Ikea pieces integrated in my decor. I just got a nice entertainment center for free that was from Ikea. Not too shabby I must say.

I don't own anything from Ikea. Bleh! I do really like that room, though. It's nice and crisp.

Very pretty, clean, and crisp! I hate ikea, though. I would never, ever, ever, ever buy something from there. MOST of their furniture is cheap, but I think it costs much more than it's actually worth.

It's definitely nice, but everytime I see a shot with the books arranged by color, I'm a bit irked. Sure, it makes sense when you only have a few books, but it just bugs me.

Nice, straight out of the catalogue look!
