Casa Query: What Says Romance?

Here's a confession: I don't do romance. Not in any traditional way, at least. If Mr. CasaSugar sprinkled rose petals on the bed as part of some romantic effort, I'd probably laugh him right out of the house. Still, there are some things that make me swoon. And maybe I'm the antiromantic romantic, but one of the most lovely and romantic things that my guy recently did was clean out the garage (an all-day affair, let me tell you).

I'm not a complete killjoy though. There are other, more traditional places where I find romance in my home. One of these is finding the space and time for a quiet moment alone to watch the birds on the deck. Another is stopping to take in the scent of jasmine from the front steps. And of course, nothing says romance at home quite like the look and scent of freshly cut flowers.

Our loft is about 800 Sq Ft, and we use use colors and fabrics to set the mood. For the romantic-ness we (rather the boyfriend) purchased a feather bed and comforter set. That coupled with fluffy flannel or the silk set, we are very happy with purchase.

The master bedroom has french doors that open out onto the atrium. We go in there and open the doors and stare at the stars while still comfortable inside. It's nice in all weather!

Dimmers on lightswitches make for more romantic lighting, and so does our fireplace. Our bedroom has deep red walls and crisp white bedding - love, love a white bed something about it reminds me of our wedding night (or a posh hotel!).

I've got a related question - how do you make your bedroom more romantic? I've been working on decorating my bedroom to make it a serene place where my husband and I can sleep well, but that's not the only thing that happens in there! PS - I'm not really the mirror type.
