Casa Query: What's Your Medicine Cabinet Philosophy?

Casa Query: What's Your Medicine Cabinet Philosophy?

Unless you're incredibly polite and believe that curiosity really did kill a cat, you've probably peeked into someone else's bathroom cabinet. I know that I have — in fact, I'm pretty sure I did it on my second date with my now-fiancé. Since I've moved in, the medicine cabinet's gotten a little more loaded. Now it holds everything from his shaving gel to my Aveda moisturizer. There is, of course, a lot of other stuff crammed in there: dental floss, toothpaste, a lone earring, cologne and perfume . . . the list goes on. All of the products or medical supplies that we don't want potentially nosy guests to snoop on, however, we put in another drawer, which is less accessible. How about you? Do you just cram it all in your medicine cabinet, or do you pick and choose what goes above the sink?

We're lucky that we have a master bath where all the really personal things could go. The guests rarely use that bathroom. Anyone who would be in my bathroom would know exactly what to expect.

oh, ps- you shouldn't flush your old medications because they taint the water supply, affecting the land we farm and the animals that live in or drink from streams, etc. the best course of action is to speak to your pharmacist, often they will chuck the unused portion in the biohazard containers for you. if not, your physician probably will. as a nurse, i always advise my patients if there is an unused portion i will dispose of it for them.

coming from a girl who keeps her dildo on the bathroom counter, i don't care about anyone snooping, but if i know there's a potential snoop coming say to a party at my place, i stuff the medicine cabinet to bursting with cotton balls and laugh thinking about them having to painstakingly stuff them all back in lest they be busted snooping :)

I have my Aveda moisturizer, deodorant, some hair products (Greg's, as i don't use any), a razor and some Aveda facial cleanser, shaving cream - plus Midol. we don't have prescription drugs or anything else in our medicine cabinet. the cabinet hangs on the wall and we had to put it in ourselves i have a nice built-in alcove next to the sink with a basket of Lush soaps and bath bombs, extra toilet paper, hand towels, toothpaste and a small first-aid kit. nothing to hide here!

i'm particular what goes in my medicine cabinet--mostly because there isn't much room. but i've always been picky. some things just don't belong in there.

I don't have a medicine cabinet in my bathroom...I keep my "pretty" products on a little glass shelf and my other stuff is stored under the sink in organized baskets.

Cheers your awesomeness! :D *The bathroom is a bad place to keep your perfume too, for all the same reasons - it will make it "turn" much faster.

Yay @ Bluecanary! =) Thinking sensibly, I see!

Oh, why don't people still know this?!?? It's NOT a good idea to keep your medications in the bathroom cabinet. The humidity from the shower/bath will make a difference on the efficiency of the medications. All my life, my mother has kept medicine in the kitchen cabinet and my grandmother has never kept pills in the bathroom cabinet, only thinks like sunscreen and bug spray. And I do not poke in peoples' bathroom cabinets because I know they're not sensible like my family and I don't want to invade their privacy. Medical issues are very sensitive and I wouldn't want anyone to find out what meds I take, so I'll follow the Golden Rule and do unto others as I would have them do unto me.

My ultra-cute, newly renovated apartment in a great location in Orlando goes for only $699/month, which is absolutely unheard of! After i moved in I realized that they'd skimped on a couple of things to help lower the price (besides being TINY!), like no door on the closet and no medicine cabinet. Which is cool; I ended up finding a really cute woven basket set, and I use the medium-sized one as a catch-all for hair products, medicines and such, and then I have a cute little tray that I keep my and my boyfriend's toothbrushes/paste/facewash on. We finally decided to consolidate a couple of weeks ago when it was overflowing with pill bottles; over the past few years my doctor and I have continually been adjusting my cocktail of antidepressants, and now I'm down to just 2 (down from 7!!! awesome!!!). The problem is that I had all these half-used bottles and samples of medications that I didn't do well on, and it was a junkie's dream in there!!! We had a little flushing party for everything except the prescriptions I'm currently taking, and it was quite liberating :-) I'm glad we did that before his mother came over... ;-)

I have everything except the bathroom sink in there! And yes, I am guilty of snooping into other people's medicine cabinet.

Remember when Jerry found that fungus cream in his date's medicine cabinet and was freaked out? Turned out to be for her cat...

I don't have anythign too exciting either haha... Most stuff we keep in neat little baskets on the counter...but things we don't use as much just go in baskets undder the sink. Same with my jumbo make-up case :P

I was a snoop as a teenage babysitter(sorry!), but not so far as an adult. We keep meds in the kitchen away from the kids. So my medicine cabinet is mostly makeup and contact stuff. But we have nothing interesting or secret anywhere in the house (other than dust bunnies) so have at it if you come over! :)

I've never known anyone who had an actual medicine cabinet, nor have I ever had one.

Well, we really don't have too much that can be readily seen in our bathroom. Anything that' is buried way in the back under extra rolls of toilet paper. Since we have a 2 year old who has taken a shine to nail polish, everything is now out of reach. And no, she hasn't gone digging behind the toilet paper. yet.

I don't have anything all that exciting so I say to that, "snoop away!" If contact lens solution excites you well then I'm your girl!

It never would occur to me to snoop in someone's medicine cabinet or to worry about someone going in mine... Of all the places to stash stuff in a house, it seems like the most boring. Next to the silverware drawer maybe.
