Casa Quickie: Disguise Your Radiator

A radiator can be an ugly, ugly thing. But there a few things you can do to disguise yours. Start by painting it to match the color of the surrounding walls, doors, or windows. Then, install a shelf in the same color just a few inches above it. This will give your radiator the illusion that it's actually a cabinet or a console, and you'll get some tabletop storage space out of it! Beyond that, you can make it disappear even more by hanging curtains around the radiator, effectively drawing your eye upward away from that big eyesore below.

Older radiators can be absolutely gorgeous works of art... our more ornate ones we sprayed metallic silver. Some older ones also came with their own cast iron shelves.

Good idea! I had no idea there was a radiator in that room until I read through the entire post and looked again. A creative and really nice idea.
