Change Water and Cut Stems to Prolong Life of Flowers

Casa Quickie: The Kindest Cut

Who doesn't love a fresh bouquet of flowers? I often buy bouquets at the Sunday farmers market and try to keep the blooms fresh throughout the week with this simple trick: keeping the ends freshly cut.

Every other day, I change the water in the vase and snip off the end of the stem at an angle. This helps each flower to stay well hydrated and beautifully blooming for a longer period of time. While this is definitely a simple tip, it's one that many people don't know about or quickly forget to try. Next time you get a pretty bouquet, try trimming your flower ends and see if it helps extend vase life!
