Cool Idea: Bicycle Wheel Pot Rack

You've probably heard the cliché "When life gives you lemons . . ." applied to all sorts of situations. But, I'd make an honest bet that a pot rack wasn't involved in one of them. So here we are. Handmade Detroit's boyfriend was in a bike accident that left his bike wheel too bent out of shape to function. Instead of sending the sad, sour wheel to a landfill he repurposed it by hanging it from the ceiling of his kitchen, using it as a pot rack. I love the DIY attitude of it and think it's perfect for a bicycle dude's home. It adds a refreshing, subtle touch of personality to something that's not traditionally very interesting.

This reminds me of the same "garage-sale, Roy Rogers, wagon-wheel coffee table" from "When Harry Met Sally..."! Seems fun and creative at first, but then not.

I love it! I agree w/ OChottie, a few of these comments come off in a really mean way. It's not hideous, it's just not Williams-Sonoma.

This would be so neat in an industrial loft, or in a quirky artist's pad. Love how the glint almost makes the wheel look like a metal spider-web. Cool idea.

That is such a great example of the little things we can do. Go Green! A lot of these comments strike me as elitist and bitchy. I don't see what's so awful about it.

I would never have that in my house. EVER.

Interesting but it remindes me of some really poor person having to make do. :(

Awesome idea. I have a friend who uses a big metal bowl (I think that's what it is) and it works really well. Compared to the "real" pot racks, this is way cheaper and more creative.

Thats neat because its creative, but I would NEVER consider hanging a bike rim from my kitchen ceiling. No way Jose.
