I was just flipping through the latest issue of Livingetc, when I came across a picture of a gorgeous classically proportioned, overstuffed sofa — reupholstered in bright, daring purple. It was a beautiful piece. I love the idea of taking an antique and updating it with modern textiles, which is probably why I'm such a huge fan of MetroSofa. This Florida-based company takes classic sofa and chair frames — such as Empire, Queen Anne, and Victorian — and transforms them with modern textiles. The prices start at around $500 for a chair and $2,000 for a sofa, and go up from there, but for such a beautiful, custom piece, I'd say that this is almost a steal.
