One Couple's Nightmare Renovation on Love It or List It Is Turning Into a Lawsuit

We all can't get enough of David and Hilary from HGTV's Love It or List It, but one couple from North Carolina was more than dissatisfied with their own renovation on the beloved show. Deena Murphy and Timothy Sullivan even went as far as suing the show's production company, Big Coat Productions, claiming they were "victims of shoddy work and unfair trade practices," according to Today.

Although the two seemed happy with the results during the big reveal in their episode and listed property, much damage was apparently done to their home. Low-grade carpet was installed, their floors were ruined, and their windows were "painted shut." Of the $140,000 Deena and Timothy put in for their home's makeover, $85,000 was given to the contractor, and the couple believes that the remaining amount was put toward "the production of its series." The couple's lawsuit further states how the television show has priority over the interests of the homeowners, but Big Coat says "this claim is in no way supported by any of the facts of the case."

While it's disheartening to hear that the show may not be all that it seems, it's yet to be decided whether the couple's allegations hold true.
