Robert and Cortney Novogratz founded their own design powerhouse, Sixx Design, after sort of accidentally learning they had a knack for renovating derelict homes and turning them into fantastically unique, high-style abodes. Neither was trained as a designer or architect, but their skill is undeniable. And you might say, their design style is influential. In their book Downtown Chic (read my review), we're given a peek into some previous incarnations of their homes, as well as the homes of their clients. New York Social Diary recently interviewed Robert and was given an unstaged tour of their latest digs, complete with children's toys and treadmills in full view. The images provide a more honest portrayal of the couple, who frankly, are a bit intimidating — killer designers and millionaires and all. You must read the full interview (really interesting!) and check out all the photos at NYSD, but I wanted to point out a few of my favorite rooms.
