Customizing a single focal point in your home, like a staircase, can create a huge impact. Designer Brian Paquette dreamed up a brilliant staircase DIY to add a nautical touch to this seaside home he designed. Instead of taking the predictable route of framing and hanging photographs, Brian went rogue and turned the staircase into a gallery.
His first stop was hitting up a local historical society to unearth photos of clamdiggers from the 1920s. After settling on six photos that captured scenes from the very same beaches just outside of the home, Brian blew them up and pixelized them. Finally, he decoupaged the photo copies to the staircase risers, and voilà! A stylish staircase project that Brian insists anyone can do. “This is a DIY you can do while drinking wine. My favorite kind of DIY!” says Brian. In search of more DIY inspiration? Check out our DIY board on Pinterest for loads of inspiration.
