I was once lucky enough to be invited to Diane von Furstenberg's Christmas party — a perk of having a Summer internship with the company — at the DvF headquarters, which at the time was the first floor of her home. Diane descended to greet her guests from a spiral staircase — the coolest architectural feature ever. Beside the staircase hung a portrait of the designer by her dear friend Andy Warhol, naturally. The room had tufted seating (my favorite), and pomegranate bellinis were being passed about. So this is what life at home for DvF is, I thought. Envy ensued.
While Warhol will never paint my portrait, I'm delighted to announce that I'm one step closer to living like Diane von Furstenberg. The iconic purveyor of wrap dresses will launch a home collection with décor company Springs Global next year. The DvF home collection will include bedding, bath, tabletop, and decorative accessories inspired by nature and contemporary art and, no doubt, pull from Diane's archive of vintage prints. The line will be available in international department stores and DvF.com next January. Until then, you can hold yourself over with her rug collection for The Rug Company. I can't wait!
