Do You Have a Patterned Sofa?

Patterned sofas had their heyday in the '60s and '70s, and now retailers like Anthropologie are championing them again. Here in the apartment of actress Krysten Ritter, shot by photographer Todd Selby, a vintage sofa mixed with mid-century furnishings and artwork looks of the moment, not dated. But, there's a certain practicality that comes with solid colored sofas, especially considering the prices of reupholstery.Source

I have a solid color sofa with funky patterned pillows on it. The pillows are not as long term a commitment as a patterned sofa and they let me play with patterns throughout the year since I can change the look for under a hundred dollars.

oh, god...standed...meant "stood" clearly

haha...huge blue sectional with stripes and flowers embroidered on it inherited from my parents after moving out - they stand by the fact that it was $2500 back in 1984 (the year my little brother was born, mind you) and has standed the test of time...it's actually fairly comfy still and seats a lot of people...plus the pattern, while not my choice, is really not nearly as offensive as it sounds...we plan to leave it on the curb when we move out

I have a solid sofa but it kind of bores me. I love that sofa, but even more I love that giant photo on the wall.

Patterns are nice for hiding stains, so from a practical standpoint I like patterns. But from an aesthetic standpoint, I do prefer solids. We currently have both in my home. I wouldn't mind that couch or that room pictured above. :-)

My (more formal) living room sofa is striped with a VERY subtle stitched pattern, but the family room one is a contemporary sienna-colored leather. I like them both.

My sofa is patterned, but I have a nice solid cream colored slipcover on it :)

My sofa and loveseat are both covered in a really subtle checkerboard pattern of caramel and chocolate (you actually can't tell it's patterned until you get up close). With our 4 kids all under the age of 10 - a patterned sofa was a MUST!

I have a hideous blue sofa with little tiny strips of color here and there. It's one of the few pieces of furniture that my husband bought after he gradutated and while I was still in the dorms, and it was more because it was comfy and cheap, than because he liked it. Unfortunately, he decided that he should also get the matching loveseat and almost matching recliner, so I have a full living room of this stuff!

I have a printed sofa, it isn't a solid but it isn't with flowers ect. Just lots of stripes and colour that match the rest of my solid coloured furniture. I wouldn't change it!

If it's a subtle print that blends well with my taste in decor I don't mind. The sofa pictured is just too busy and there's way too many accessories in the room. Feels dizzy.

ok, i absolutely LOVE that print and sofa... but i wouldnt (or maybe couldnt) commit to it on such a big piece of furniture... maybe on a chair.. or even a pair of chairs. but i dont think i could enjoy such a huge print on a huge piece of furniture for too many years (and what you spend on a sofa should last more than a fewyears).

I hate our sofa I can't wait to move so I can get new furniture. But I'll probably stick to solids. I like patterns to go on the walls and the floors.

Nope. My sofa is a dark tan/light brown color with white piping. Growing up, my parents always picked the gigantic floral prints for their furniture. Looking back at those pictures always makes me laugh.
