Do You Have a Settee?

The house I grew up in had "a living room" and "a den." The den was the room with plush couches and a television that we spent every weeknight in. The living room had a gorgeous settee and a pair of Louis XIV chairs that were absolutely uncomfortable, and thus the room was practically never used.

Since the advent of the television, a lot of these rigid, salon-style furniture types have fallen by the wayside. It's a little sad since their curvy wooden frames and tufted buttons are so stunning, but they really are impractical if you're planning to watch a marathon of Real Housewives. Are you keeping the settee alive and well in your home?

Although we never had a settee in our condo we kept it modern and sleek which looked great but wasn't the most comfortable when you are watching tv. Now that we're in a house and the condo furniture looks dumb in it, we will be furnishing it with comfy furniture only!

Settee's are for sitting on and having tea. I'm English, lounging on your furniture was never the norm there until recently and even still when I last lived there people don't simply lie around on their furniture.

I never knew that's what these were called! I had two of these, but I just sold one and now I'm down to one. I have just been calling it my "granny couch." The one I got rid of wasn't very comfortable, but the one I'm keeping is!
