Do You Take Family Portraits?

I just came across these adorable and wacky family portraits by photographer Akihiro Furuta, and couldn't help but share one. Since it's the holidays, I'm sure family portraits are on a lot of your minds, and you may have already sent out a holiday card with one.My family only successfully mailed three holiday portrait cards, and they were the cliché kind: matching smock dresses and little red mary janes one year, in full ski gear the next, and turtlenecks and "seasonal" sweaters on an ice skating rink another year. I wish we'd gotten a bit more inventive with our portraits like Furuta has done. This photo celebrates his dog's birthday, and I think that the cheekiness of this family's costume attire is much more festive.

we just took our first portrait for the holidays this year. we tried to get my cat and my parents dog in the picture but (surprise surprise) the dog was moving too much and kept coming out as a blur, so because the dog couldn't be in the picture my poor cat couldn't be in the picture either! :(

No. We're not picture people.

That pictures awesome! My family rarely dose, and if we do it's very spear of the moment using a point-and-shot.

This portrait is quirky and fun, but I kind of hate family portraits. They always look forced. I'd much rather get pics of a family on holiday truly enjoying themselves!

I'm the one taking other peoples family portraits! Yet I do not take my own, nor do I send out Christmas cards with pictures on them.
