Do You Use Decks or Porches in the Winter?

Just because it's not 70 degrees and sunny doesn't mean that there isn't a use for your deck this Winter. They can be a great solution for party overflow at a ski chalet, and provide a good place to take a moment to reflect and sip hot coffee on a mild Winter afternoon. Do you use yours in the off-season?

I have a pocket porch that is common in Victorian homes; it is off of my master bedroom. I use it sometimes in the winter if and that is a big IF the day is warm enough. However, it has been TOO cold and there is snow up there right now, so it seems like forever since I've been out there. I miss it because I use it frequently the rest of the year. I have beautiful Moroccan lanterns and lights (that don't clash with the Victorian design) and antique wicker chairs out there. In the spring, summer, and fall, I have hanging flower baskets. It is a fun place to sit because most people don't even see me out there. I love sitting out there and having breakfast or spending time reading!

My sister has her grill on the deck, we use it all year round, even during the winter :)

Yes! I only have a small front porch but I'm out there all the time in the winter to get fresh air, look at the skyline, etc. But I live in California so it's not bitterly cold like it is in other parts of the country.
