I love the clean, utilitarian look of sailcloth, and these cool upcycled outdoor furniture pieces from Spanish company Dvelas are really catching my eye. These unique pieces are made from recovered sailcloth, which is then used to upholster a fiberglass and foam-padded interior structure. Perfect for the beach or oceanfront deck spaces, the unique shapes give them a whimsical feel while also providing wind and sun protection.
Treehugger writer Petz Scholtus just returned from Feria Habitat, the main fairground of Valencia Design Week and stopped to chat with the designers from Dvelas, dedicated sailors who now turn the used sails they find around the world on their trips into products and furniture.
