Eco-Friendly Water Heater Tip to Reduce Heating Bills

Casa Verde: Get Low

Unless your pad's equipped with a tankless water heater, then chances are your current water heater is using a lot more energy than you probably need. One way to minimize your bill while maximizing energy efficiency is to simply turn down your water heater. Most manufacturers set water heaters to 140-150 degrees Fahrenheit, but lowering it to 120 degrees will still enable a steamy hot shower whenever you need it. Changing the temp is usually as easy as turning a dial, and each 10 degree reduction will help save between 3-5 percent on your energy bill. How low can you go? Start by reducing it by 5-10 degrees until you achieve the desired temperature.
