In an interview with Oh Joy!, Secrets From a Stylist's Emily Henderson recently talked about the fear of flowers that some of her clients have:
"I have a thing for vintage floral fabrics. People are effing terrified of florals. I have met the first 16 clients for the show, and no one wants floral. NO ONE. What's wrong with flowers? They are beautiful little sculptures that evoke happiness of spring, and they're always different. I love large scale, modern colored florals that don't say granny, instead they say 'Let's have a couple drinks in a garden together and pretend it's warm all year round.' And while people associate florals with pinks, I prefer them in blues, greens with pops of pinks, reds and yellows. They don't always have to be uber girly, they can just be uber happy."
I've never seen someone make such a strong case for florals, but I also didn't realize so many people were "terrified" of them. I love florals, but I never dreamed they'd need to be defended. Aren't they pretty standard? Whether it's pastel English-rose-style florals or big badass modern florals, do you like floral patterns? Or are you in the same camp as Emily's clients?
