Perhaps my favorite room of all was Charlie's bedroom, with the eyecatching ikat headboard. While most of the house is oriented toward entertaining, the bedroom is more of a private sanctuary. I thought readers might be interested in learning how to re-create the looks, so I've rounded up some materials and resources to let you get the look of Charlie's boudoir.Of course, the first item you'll need is some ikat fabric for upholstering the headboard. This cotton/silk blend turquoise ikat fabric ($26 a yard) is a close match. Depending on what shape of headboard you want for your room, you can follow my tutorial or try this one from Prudent Baby.
For the rest of the look,
.These Stray Dog Philip Lamps ($350 each) echo the sensibility of the lamps in Charlie's room while updating them for a modern bedroom. You can find a turquoise princess phone through an eBay search, or keep your eye out at your local flea market for a retro telephone.
For luxurious, simple bedding similar to Charlie's, the Donna Karan Silk Bed Linens (queen duvet on sale for $190) will do the job nicely.
Finally, look for pretty, white nightstands with vintage details by searching for "white nightstands" on 1st Dibs. I found this Pair of White Lacquer Nightstands with Brass Hardware on the site that look like they're an almost identical match to Charlie's pair.
It's up to you whether you want to go for complete and total verisimilitude (really, I don't think a cocktail shaker is quite necessary in my bedroom, but I'll leave that decision up to you) by filling in the knickknacks that litter Charlie's nightstands. In this instance, it might be better to go with a less is more approach, especially since the main focus of the room is the ikat headboard and those fabulous bedside lamps.
