we wait for the weekend before so the teenagers don't get any ideas about destroying our hard work!

You can't carve a pumpkin this far away from Halloween and not have it rot and mildew. Well, not in Houston anyway. The earliest we can carve pumpkins here is 2-3 days. Otherwise you have to put it in the fridge to keep it around.

yes and the one I carved looked like it should be on the short bus

I don't think I'll get to it this year - apparently Miami has a shortage? I saw a couple pumpkins in a Publix a few weeks back but none recently. Oh the south. I miss the north east during the fall. But I DID roast squash seeds last night. A feeble attempt but at least I made an effort, right?

Nope. Nobody ever does that here in Ireland, but I'd love to. I just wouldn't know where to start :ponder:

It's too early to carve pumpkins because they'll rot before halloween rolls around.

I haven't yet, and don't plan to, unless I can find somewhere to put one. Living alone on the 8th story of a dorm kinda kiboshes the whole plan.
