Have You Ever Tried a Farm Stay?

On a recent trip to Hawaii, I stayed at North Country Farm, which provides vacation guest cottages for travelers. Not only was the stay incredibly relaxing, but I also benefited from the farmer's knowledge of great sights, restaurants, and beaches to check out. I was also able to pick vegetables, fruit, and herbs to cook with while staying there. Quite a perk!

I've been trying to convince my husband to take a farm vacation this summer in the Wisconsin Dells, since it's a short trip away from Chicago. He seems to think it'll be pretty awful & smelly, but I think it'll be romantic. :-)

When we went to Hawaii last year it wasn't really a farm but all the houses didn't have any fences and there were chickens and a goat. While a resort stay might have been nice as well it was relaxing and fun when the occasional chicken would just come walking into our place.

No, I'm an urbanite. I don't even like camping.

Sounds fun, the locals always know the best places to see and eat at.

When I went to Australia with People to People, my favorite part of the whole trip was the Farm Stay.

I visit with friends in Devonshire that have an organic farm. While there I helped out but it wasn't technically a "farm stay" as I wasn't a paying guest. I was shocked that their farm runs itself so easily and we didn't have to wake at the crack of dawn (totally a night bird!) and hope to visit again soon, perhaps this summer!

I live on sortof a farm and I like it most days:) Maybe not when it's 10below and I have to deal with the chickens. But usually it's the best! People pay alot of money to stay in cottages like mine for the weekend. I get to live here full time. Especially when it's spring, it's gorgeous.Making breakfast this morning I'm using eggs from our chickens and made blueberry muffins from our own frozen blueberries.
