Have You Helped Make a Ribbon Bouquet?

If you've ever been to a bridal shower, you may have been responsible for helping to DIY the ribbon bouquet. At bridal showers, it's traditional to gather all of the ribbons together from the gifts and construct a bouquet, which will then be used at the wedding rehearsal.

I think it might be an east coast/west coast divide. I grew up in California where this happens at every shower. I now live in New York where it is used occasionally, but the wishing well is commonplace, and I had never heard of that before.

I've never seen it in bouquet form, but I like it! We always do a hat and/or bra.

Haha, I'll be doing this tomorrow, as a matter of fact, at my best friend's bridal shower. Our other good friend who usually gets this job isn't able to attend the shower, so the job has fallen on me. I've made one before and it's pretty fun. So I don't mind!

I had a great one my sister-in-law made for me! Just never force a bride to have a bouquet - a lot of girls are against the tradition. Make sure to tell guests to use pretty ribbons on the gifts! My first shower I went to I had no idea, and the ribbon was not up to par!

I love making these at showers! Glue dots are my weapon of choice so I take some along to showers if I know that will be my job.

Granted, I had totally planned on going back and hot gluing the bows on for the one I was making for my best friend but never had the chance to so it was kind of as is, but wow! I wish mine looked that nice!

I totally forgot to use mine at my rehearsal. I did, however, take it apart later and I use the ribbons regularly.

I've done the hat thing at both bridal and baby showers for friends. I never heard about the bouquet thing before.

I am always in charge of making these at showers... The trick is using a stapler to keep all the ribbons secure instead of relying on tying or the sticky deals on the back of the bows to keep it together. I staple everything to a paper plate and use one of the more substantial ribbons as a handle on the back.

I combined the two traditions of hat and bouquet. I was lucky to have ribbons that were long enough to tie the hat to the bride's head at the shower. It was so adorable! Then after the shower, I punched a hole in the middle of the plate and used a wooden spoon that was on top of one of her gifts as the bouquet "stem" for her to hold during the rehearsal. I though it was great that she got to use it twice.

I've been at showers where the ribbons were made into a hat. Then after all the gifts are open the bride to be puts the hat on for pictures.
