A beautifully planned party will be a treat to guests' all five senses. So, whether you are hosting a black tie soiree or a more intimate dinner party, this simple way to scent the air is the perfect way to add to the ambience of your Christmas party.

No doubt, everyone will ask you what it is that smells so lovely, so think ahead and say your farewells at the end of the evening by giving guests a favor full of their own festive potpourri to take home.

MATERIALS

1-2 large apple, cut into fourths

1-2 large oranges, cut into fourths

5 cinnamon sticks

1-2 teaspoons whole cloves

1 tablespoon fresh ginger

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Fill a crock-pot or a pot on your stove with water.

STEP 2

Combine all ingredients in the pot with the water. Turn on high heat for approximately 20 minutes and then reduce to a low simmer.

STEP 3

Add water periodically to ensure the mixture does not dry out.

And for Guest Favors

STEP 1

Fill clear cellophane bags with oranges, apples, cinnamon stick, ginger, and cloves along with a note from you detailing instructions on how to scent a home using these ingredients.

STEP 2

Label the bag with your guests' names and hand out at the end of your Christmas party as the perfect festive party favor!
