Living in a city apartment, I give an extra gold star to any dual-purpose furnishing that can save space in my petite pad. But when that moonlighting marvel can also camouflage itself, it's a shoe in for a five-star award. My latest discovery of the sort is the Hot Pot BBQ ($124) designed by Anglo-Swiss partnership design duo black + blum. On any normal day, the design looks (and works) like a traditional terracotta pot and is perfect for growing herbs on your terrace or balcony, but lift up its top and you'll reveal a barbecue grill underneath. The product, which has a 14.6-by-10.6-inch cooking area, is made of stainless steel and has a heat-insulated ceramic coating and comes with stainless steel tongs for safe cooking. Once your BBQ is ready to eat, top with your fresh herbs, and then you can even remove the parts for easy washing! Smart. Simple. Subtle. I need to get my hands on one of these.
