I love painting — rooms, canvases, cards, and furniture. What I don't love is the cleanup afterward, especially the brushes. Painting a ceiling or stripes could pale in comparison to the task of getting the paint out of the brush once the job is done. Turpentine can be called in, but there's also a quick trick that can help before the job is ever started. Before dipping your brushes into the fresh paint can, let them have a quick soak in a bowl or glass of water. It will keep the paint from immediately sticking to the bristles and make the tidying up a bit easier when the walls are dry.
