How Would You . . .

Since I've got skateboard-inspired furniture on my mind, I figured I'd ask you to turn a basic skateboard into furniture or décor in your home. Your furniture vision can include as many skateboards as you like, so long as they're the main attraction. For inspiration, check out this skateboard turned art (fifth photo down), and see PBteen's collection of skateboard wheel finials, as well as the skateboard row of hooks and the shelf below.

Leave a comment below and let me know where you'd put or how you'd uniquely use a skateboard (or skateboards) as furniture or décor in your home.

Hi, Good ideas. My brother and I make really cool stools out of recycled skateboards... please check out our site www.deckstool.com

CocoChic - I LOVE your idea! Even if it's not apholstered, but the wood grain is left... or if the decals match your design scheme...I would polish an unused deck up, maybe add a lip, coat in food-safe poly and use it as a tray for food with a modern shape.

My boyfriend, who's a big skateboarder, has a bunch of blank decks that we were talking about putting some art on. I'm thinking a Marimekko print! I wouldn't normally love skateboards as art, but it's such a big part of his life that we're making it a fun compromise!

I would upholster it (since the griptape is a little rough) and attach some funky legs for a stool.

last night, on extreme home makeover, there was a family of four boys and one of them wanted a skateboarding room. the designers made the one of the beds an actual working, giant skateboard. now that's some hardcore decor!

You could cut holes and make it into a picture frame to hold 3-4 pictures.

A couple together, plus some legs, might make an interesting desk for a teen's bedroom.

I'm sorry, but I just wouldn't... ...well, maybe if they didn't have any of the traction stuff or decals, I might fasten pairs of them together, so the curved edges splayed out like this )(, and then use them as table legs... ...but probably not.

I would use them as rungs on a ladder for a bunk/loft bed in a boy's room.
