When we featured interior designer Amber Lewis's LA home, she instilled one invaluable ambition in us: to master the art of mixing high and low. We understand this isn't exactly a new concept, but when your headboard upholstery is really an H&M scarf, your farmhouse sconces are DIY hacks, and your department store furniture looks like it came from a pricey boutique, that's worth commending. The row of black swivel stools lining her kitchen island are just another example.
Turns out they're from Ikea! At $40 each, you could even throw in some custom cushions for extra comfort — just sayin'. Not only do they cleverly accommodate her open floor plan — you can chat up the cook and your dinner guests without ever turning your head — they also anchor the white kitchen and complement the chalkboard pantry doors. (Oh, did we mention she painted those doors herself?)
