Inspirational Khmer Style

Here's a post from OnSugar blog Apartmentalizing:

I've already waxed poetic (okay, not that poetic) about how much we loved the exterior of Hotel de la Paix. But it was our room that really charmed us.  Little touches turned a simple room into a welcoming, special space (the intoxicating smell of jasmine didn't hurt either).  Read more for inspirational designs you can totally transport to your home, wherever it is.

I just adored the banyan tree hanging above the bed.  Its simplicity was modern and traditional all at once, and a wonderful alternative to simply hanging a framed picture or elaborate headboard.  This is totally transferrable to any modern bedroom!  I even found this similar option on Etsy — a wall decal if you want to save a little dough or your wall can't handle a heavy hanging!

Check it out on Etsy.

I also adored this vase, with tiny jasmine blossoms tucked into the holes.  The fragrance was incredible and it was such a fun way to display tiny, beautiful buds that typically get lost in glass vases.

This shape was repeated throughout the room, both on the wall of the limestone tub (left) and in the awesome brass soap and lotion bottles on the sink (right).

Like the banyan tree, this shape and motif was repeated throughout the hotel (and Siem Reap).  Hm, I wonder why...
