Liquid Soap For Home Entertaining

Last week, I shared with you iVillage's list of items that are essential to throwing a good home-based party. One of them was soaps: According to iVillage, "fancy soaps, whether molded or French milled, will make your guests feel pampered." At my recent Feuerzangenbowle extravaganza party, my fancy bar soaps, I have to admit, were pretty icky by the end of the night. This leads me to the conclusion that the best solution is liquid soap. There are plenty of fancy liquid soaps out there now to choose from. Crabtree & Evelyn has a great selection, and I love love love their Gardeners Hand Therapy Caddy Set ($32). The set comes with liquid hand wash and shea butter hand cream in a charming rust-proof sink caddy. The green clover, lavender, sage rosemary and thyme scents keep all of your guests smelling fresh, and more importantly, clean. You can always go back to the bar soaps when your party is over. But in the interest of keeping things looking nice, entertain with non-icky liquid soaps.

I have the lotion at home, I received it as a Christmas gift last year, and I love it! It smells really good, and it makes your skin really soft without being greasy. I'm almost out of it :(

I am a graphic designer and I just finished a package design class. The packaging for Crabtree and Evelyn's Gardeners Hand therapy line was featured in the required textbook! It shows the design from thumbnail sketches to completion, and there were a lot of versions in between. Very interesting.

P.S. I rinse the soap dish out every few days to keep it looking fresh and clean.

I use bar soap in my bathroom, just because I have SO much of it that I need to use up. I love the Williams & Sonoma liquid sets for the kitchen and I'm sure I'll switch to something similar once I use up my 8 million bars of hotel soap.

Cute. Bath & Body Works has similar sets.

I really like the liquid soap and hand lotion sets by Williams Sonoma. They smell great and come in a similar caddy as these ones. I've never found a product by Crabtree & Evelyn that I like the smell of, so I'm not sure I'd buy these. Although they would look adorable sitting next to the sink.

We rarely have people over, so my husband and I are used to our hand soaps. But his cousins came to visit last week, and all of a sudden I was totally ashamed of them! Definitely need to add "switch to liquid soap" to my list of things to do when people come over.

I always use liquid soap at home, I can't bear the sight of a milky bar of soap pooling in its slimy residue and let's speak the unspoken, whenever you have anyone round, there is always a hair in it at the end of the night. Yuk!
