I spotted this open-plan living/dining room in the Swedish design magazine Skona Hem, and I absolutely covet everything in it. The way it all comes together is totally cozy, glamorous, and perfectly wintry. The mix of styles is flawless, too; some elements are unmistakably modern, others recall Moroccan interiors, some feel trad and perhaps Queen Anne, and there's even a woodsy, cabin vibe. Plus, look at those windows!
Unfortunately, since I don't read a lick of Swedish, I'm out of luck in tracking down the resources for the furnishings. So, I decided to re-create the room from scratch using similar furnishings. To begin, I chose the Steele Sofa ($1,800) from Crate & Barrel, which has a similar low frame, gray hue, and metal legs to lend a bit of modernity. Next, I'd lay down the Pottery Barn Shag Rug ($200 and up), which creates a fresh, airy base that'll be oh so comfortable.
