Love It or Hate It? A Barn Door in a Modern Home

This master suite features a barn door in a very modern color. Since it's much too big to swing open, the barn door has been fitted on a track, so it slides open and closed. I love how the less refined door contrasts with the chandelier showcased in the bathroom beyond. Do you like this style? Or is it too whimsical for your tastes?

I think it is great, just would need the right space. I'm not sold on the color, but I appreciate what they were going for.

I have one in my room! I think it is a really unique feature to any room! You definitely need a room big enough to carry it though!

It looks good when the door is open. When the door is slide closed, it would look a little odd. The long track would hang out extra long across the left. One way to remedy to that is paint some sort of interesting art on the wall on the left. Perhaps some sort of faux finish, subtle art. When the door is closed, the art would be visible, and framed across the top by the track. Just a thought.

I love it, looks great against that gray paint color too.

I think that it's viewed more as "wall art" than a door. I think it's okay, even if it weren't painted so boldly. There are very modern apartments in historic buildings with rough brick walls, and wood beams - and that is beautiful too. It's all charachter.

I love it, but I love that bath tub more...

it really depends on the space.there are modern versions of sliding barn doors, which would work in a similar fashion.

I do like it, but I think it would only go well with modern decor if it were painted as above. I don't think antiqued or unfinished wood would look right.
