Love It or Hate It? The Last Match Menorah

The Unica Home "The Last Match" Menorah ($240) honors the tradition of Hanukkah (which starts tomorrow) with eight oil candles to mark the eight nights of the “festival of lights,” and one shamash, meant to light the other eight. Yet it's far from traditional. It's designed by Walteria Living, whose tag line is "Anti-Design for the Home." I think it's fun and clever, but also on the same wavelength as the Bottle Brush Christmas Tree: too cheeky and sarcastic to own if you're really religious. But maybe not. What do you think?

It's in poor taste. Even worse: it's butt ugly!

I am not Jewish or religious in any way but I definitely thing there is something wrong with having a Menorah that looks like this. I mean isn't it shaped that way for a reason? I suppose its cute if your not that religious and want something different.

"too cheeky and sarcastic to own if you're really religious" Most likely, but with my sense of humor.....I adore it!

There are so many themes when it comes to menorahs. Some are funny, some are beautiful; whatever. It's kind of cute if your Channukah party theme was Burning Down The House!Bring on the latkes!

I'm not Jewish but have many relatives and friends who are. I think it's a bit kooky.

I think it's funny. It'd be great for somebody who liked to honor their traditions in an unconvential way ( I think it's more like a red velvet Jesus than anything else). However, I LOVE traditional menorahs, so much that I put one up even though I'm not Jewish. So, I wouldn't buy it, but I would definately high five someone who did. lol

It seems a little disrespectful.

I think it's a light hearted way for a less traditional person to celebrate the holiday........Hello? Does everyone forget the whole Jesus vs. Santa thing??

I think it's cool! baltimoregal--It's based on the miracle from God that the oil lasted 8 days, because it was only 1 days worth. But yes, it did happen during a time of war. And as for the Christmas brush tree--there's nothing religious about it a Christmas tree, so I don't find it offensive at all.

It's a little flippant, but then Hanukkah isn't actually based on a religious holiday but on a war victory. So maybe one out of swords?
