Love It or Hate It? Overlapping Accent Rugs

I think the overlapping accent rugs in this kid's room, shot by Swedish photographer Ulrika Ekblom, work because the effect is playful and relaxed, just how every youngster's room should be. I've seen overlapping rugs used in more adult settings before and I'm not universally sold on it. You?

Looks very dumb. Like you were in the middle of decorating and the kitchen caught on fire so you just dropped the rugs and ran.

The rugs look messy but I love the bed and chair!! I agree with those who said the rugs will be tripped over by the kids. Kids just aren't ready for random rag rugs to be thrown all over their room. They need either wall to wall or one large (non-skid) rug. Nice photo though!!

Kids rooms are messy looking as is, I don't think this look works in a kids room at all.

That is too much to be placing in a childs room. They don't need more things to trip over or get stained. That's just a dumb idea to me. They're no good point when you are considering overlapping rugs and children.

I love it. The room seems cozy and warm, I hope the rugs are skid proof so that they stay in place. Having something soft and warm under foot is also a plus and they even add more seating rather then sitting on the bed. The colors and patterns add more depth to the room and pleasing to the eye which kid love... It's stimulating.

Maybe it's my OCD coming out, but I get chills like fingernails on chalkboard just looking at this! Aiiii!

I don't like it. I fear that someone would trip if the rugs got all jumbled up together.

I love this room, but I think the rugs would be too difficult to keep in place and looking nice — even in my own room.

I agree - their rooms end up looking like this without any effort at all. MESSY. Less is more in kids' rooms.
