Vintage-Lovers Are Going to Lose Their Minds Over Marisa Tomei's Apartment

When it comes to home decorating, many celebrities are satisfied to sink big bucks into the trendiest furniture and finishes and call it a day. Marisa Tomei is not one of them. Her home is a museum of cozy vintage finds and one-of-a-kind treasures she's scavenged from around the world. The film and stage actress attributes her love of secondhand decor to her profession. "It has to do with being an actress. What are the details of another person's life? What's the history of an object?" she told Elle Decor. Marisa welcomed the magazine into her eclectic-chic condo in the Manhattan neighborhood of Greenwich Village for what is one of our favorite celebrity home tours to date. Keep reading to check out all the details.

When Marisa is on set, she unwinds by surfing for decor on sites such as eBay and Live Auctioneers. "After working long hours on a set, I like to see pretty things. It helps me to wind down," she says. Her shopping addiction has paid off, as evidenced by her stunning living room, which contains a pair of comfy armchairs found on eBay and stunning rosewood chairs she purchased at auction.

Marisa's condo is spacious now, but it was half the size. One day her neighbors slipped a note under her door letting her know they were moving and wondering if she wanted to buy their place. "In New York, when an opportunity like that comes along, it's like winning the lottery. Who could resist?" she says of her decision to buy her neighbors' apartment and combine it with hers to create one large unit.

One of the biggest perks of having a large home is that Marisa can easily entertain her large family, based nearby in Brooklyn, NY. "My family is huge, including over 25 cousins, aunts, and uncles, as well as my parents, who lie around the corner, and my brother. And we like to get together."
