It's easy to go overboard when it comes to bedroom décor — especially if you live with housemates. In a shared living space, the bedroom often defaults as the only space where you can truly create a private sanctuary. Still, the more restrained you can keep your decorating, the more likely it is that your room will promote a sense of restfulness. And since so many of us are sleep deprived, this is an important consideration indeed. At the very least, keep technological gadgets out of your bedroom. Banish TVs, laptops, and iPads to the living room. These tempting devices often lead you astray when you should be switching off your lamp and catching some shuteye. Then, if you're feeling extra motivated, try a few simple techniques for cutting the chaos level in your room. Make sure drawers are fully closed, as is the closet door. Clear off surfaces and hide away knickknacks. Finish your transformation by painting your walls white, light blue, or other soothing tones.
