When most of us hear the term "prefab," we think of doublewide trailers. Yet it is possible for a prefab house to be beautifully designed—and environmentally responsible. Take the Glidehouse. Built in a factory using modern and environmentally friendly building methods and materials, this house can be built in as little as 10 to 14 months at a cost comparable to or below traditional site-built homes (averaging $250/square foot).
Designed by Michelle Kaufmann, Glidehouse is nationally recognized as a contemporary, sustainable residence, setting the standard for pre-fabricated architecture.
